The D&R Sobey Atlantic Admission Award was established in 1988 by Donald Sobey, B.Com. 1957 and Rob Sobey, B.A. (Honours) 1988. The terms of the award have been revised for the 2019-20 academic year to further promote financial accessibility to those students who may not otherwise have considered Queen’s University for their post-secondary studies. Applicants who are residents of the Atlantic provinces entering the first year of the undergraduate Commerce Program at Queen’s University and meet the following criteria may apply: Demonstrated academic excellence. Demonstrated financial need. Proven leadership and involvement in school or community activities. Must be entering first year Queen’s undergraduate Commerce. This Scholarship Program is part of the Wage Gap Action Plan of the Province of New Brunswick. The Program is intended to encourage women and men, entering their first year at a New Brunswick college, to seek a non-traditional career where participation to date by women and men in these fields has been limited.
